Christians don’t spend much time thinking and talking about holiness. We should because it is an important concept. Holiness is similar to consecration, the act of designating someone or something for a specific, special purpose. Exodus 29 illustrates and defines holiness for us. This chapter contains a reference to holy food, portions of the sacrifices which were designated to be eaten by the priests. We also read about holy garments, the clothing which was only worn by the priests when they were serving in the tabernacle. And there was a holy place, set aside solely for activities related to the sacrifices. 1 Peter 1 connects holiness to us Christians in the 21st century. We are commanded to be holy because God is holy. This means we are set apart and designated to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Learn more in the following video:
